It all started for Kate in the parking lot of a funeral home where fresh from the fryer, paired with
perfectly chilled rosé, she tasted her first sweetbread standing in a circle of chefs and servers silently
nodding their heads in satisfaction. After that she was hooked on the spirit of community created
when sharing a bottle of wine. Working alongside Chef Paul Virant in Chicago and Hinsdale she
honed the craft of service and storytelling in hospitality cultivating a great appreciation for farmers
and artisans. Her curiosity led her to study with The Court of Master Sommeliers and The Wine &
Spirits Education Trust, delving deeper into the business of wine while working for a family run
wine distributor from 2017-2022. She joined the flock with The Duckhorn Portfolio in Spring of
2022 where she has delighted in sharing world-class wines from California and Washington State
ever since.
